Modding War Games
The game content lives in the game/ folder, so you can change how War Games plays without touching the engine.
- rules.md: the rules the factions play by, covering map, terrain, resources, units, combat and victory conditions.
- tech-tree.json: the four research tracks (military, economic, intelligence and nuclear), their costs and effects.
- initial-world.json: starting territories, adjacency, resources and units, plus
maxTurns(20 by default). - factions/: the persona prompt each faction's AI plays. Rewrite a leader and the faction changes character.
rules.md and tech-tree.json describe the rules, but the numbers that are actually enforced (costs, ranges, combat) are in server/engine.ts. Change both when you rebalance.
Read the nuclear exchange rules before changing the nuclear track, and see CONTRIBUTING.md for the checks a pull request needs.
